‘Ransdorp’ by Nel Mooy

For September we’re showing lino prints by Wivenhoe artist Nel Mooy.

Nel grew up in the Netherlands in a home where self sufficiency and skilled crafts were a way of life. She settled in Wivenhoe in 1999 and combines her day job with a passion for making things inspired by her surroundings.

She talks about her work here:

‘I fell back in love with linoprinting some years ago. Most of my prints are made using the reduction method. Every colour is isolated and cut in progressive layers. By the end, the lino is “destroyed” with only the last layer remaining. Therefore, once a set of prints is made, it is not possible to make any further, liberating me to move on to something new.’
